.SHORT TERM...Today through Tuesday night

Snow showers are expected to taper off this morning for portions
of Elko County and elevations above 6500 feet. After a brief break
of dry weather, an upper-level disturbance and cold front
approaches from the northwest Monday afternoon. This will bring
another round of valley rain and mountain snow showers with
isolated thunderstorms mainly across northern NV. 1 to 3 inches of
snow are expected in the high mountain areas of Northern Elko
County and the Ruby Mountains/E. Humboldt Range. Dry conditions
prevail across central NV for much of the day. Winds will increase
out of the west to 10-15 mph with gusts to 20-30 mph.

Showers will linger for part of the day Tuesday as a broad long-
wave trough encompasses over much of the western U.S. and northern
plains. A northwest flow over the rest of the CWA bring quite and
dry conditions under partly cloudy to mostly clear skies. Daytime
high temperatures reside in the low 50s to low 60s with overnight
lows in the low 20s to low 30s. Winds will be breezy to locally
windy each afternoon with gusts of 20 to 30 mph in the windier
locales.

.LONG TERM...Wednesday through next Monday

Generally quiet weather thru much of the period as a ridge of
high pressure influences the region mid to late next week. That
said, guidance continues to advertise a cut off low forming
somewhere across the southwest U.S. as upper energy moves across
Montana and south. This brings a low probability for afternoon
rain showers and thunderstorms across portions of the forecast
area beginning late this week and each day thru the weekend.
Temperatures expected to warm the latter half of the week and thru
the weekend with daytime highs reaching into the low 80s for some
locales by Sunday. Afternoon winds remain breezy.

half of the week will continue to help mitigate high elevation
