Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
242 PM CDT Thu Jul 31 2025

.DISCUSSION...

As we put a bow on July, the August 1st cold front is not far
away. A large cluster of thunderstorms is starting to line up over
central Arkansas, with a damaging wind threat primarily as the
rain cooled air crashes down into the heat of the mid afternoon.
The cold front will take time to move through, so another Heat
Advisory is looming along and south of I-20 for Friday. Then as
the clouds remain along with the freshly wet ground, our afternoon
upper 90s and low 100s will take a long break until perhaps the
middle of next week. This cold front will see temperatures below
average and rainfall above average for much of our forecast area.
So a nice long break from the heat Headlines will no longer be
needed for days to come. Lows will drop into the mid to upper 60s
north and low 70s south through the late weekend and start of next
week.
