.DISCUSSION...

...Yellowstone NP and Teton dispatch areas (includes fire weather
zones 140...414...415...and 416)...

Conditions will be similar to yesterday (Wednesday). Gulf moisture
streams northwestward today, leading to notably higher RH for the
northern dispatch area (Yellowstone NP) than for the southern area
(Salt River and Wyoming Ranges). RH dips to 15 to 20 percent for the
south, whereas minimums will be 25 to 30 percent in the north.
Overall, winds gust 15 to 20 mph this afternoon, but will be notably
higher (gusts to 30 to 40 mph) around any showers and thunderstorms
that are passing by. There is a 30 to 40 percent chance for nearby
thunderstorms this afternoon anywhere along and north of the Tetons
and Gros Ventres.

...Cody dispatch area (includes fire weather zones 275...276...
282...283...285...286...287...288...and 289)...

Conditions will be similar to yesterday (Wednesday). Gulf moisture
is in place for both basins, with minimum RHs in the 25 to 30
percent range this afternoon, quite high for this time of year.
Overall, winds gust 15 to 20 mph this afternoon, but will be notably
higher (gusts 40 to 50 mph) around any showers and thunderstorms
that are passing by. There is a 50 to 70 percent chance for nearby
thunderstorms this afternoon, with the higher values over the
Bighorn Basin and surrounding mountains.

...Casper dispatch area (includes fire weather zones 277...278...
279...280...281...285...289...and 300)...

Conditions will be similar to yesterday (Wednesday). Gulf moisture
is in place east of the Divide, leading to notably higher RH for the
northern dispatch area (Casper northeastward) than for SW Wyoming.
RH dips to 10 to 15 percent for the southwest, whereas minimums will
be 35 to 40 percent in the north. Overall, winds gust 15 to 20 mph
this afternoon, but will be notably higher (gusts to 45 to 55 mph)
around any showers and thunderstorms that are passing by. There is a
50 to 70 percent chance for nearby thunderstorms this afternoon for
zones north of Casper, and only a 10 to 20 percent chance for zones
southwest of the Divide.
