Hydrologic Statement
National Weather Service Pittsburgh PA
1054 AM EDT Tue Jul 28 2026

Past 24 hour precipitation...
Spotty showers and thunderstorms across the region left swaths of higher
rain totals across portions of the region mainly in Ohio and along the
Pennsylvania ridges. The highest rain totals in these swaths were near
1.00-1.50 inches. Outside of these swaths, areas saw isolated shower
coverage and rain totals as low as a few hundredths.

Forecast precipitation for the next 48 hours...
Showers and thunderstorms are again expected today with coverage and
rain totals expected to be at their highest along the eastern ridges
favoring the Yough, Cheat and Mon basins where rainfall totals can be as
high as 0.50-1.00 inches. Rainfall totals across the Ohio and Musk
basins will decline as you move further west and can be between a few
hundredths and a quarter inch. Precipitation is expected to be far less
on Wednesday favoring the eastern ridges again.

River trends...
Eastern areal rivers could see some small bumps but many area rivers
will fall over the coming days.
