...ELEVATED TO NEAR-CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS PERSIST
TODAY AND TONIGHT ACROSS THE INTERIOR AND THE SANTA LUCIA RANGE
DUE TO HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS...
.DISCUSSION...The elevated to near critical fire weather concerns
will continue through at least this evening with very poor MinRH
recoveries for locations above the marine layer the past week.
Light winds are a mitigating factor, however any fire start
especially near steep terrain has the potential for rapid spread
like the Timber fire near Big Sur. The marine layer is expected to
deepen over the coming days as we see a pattern shift to troughing
over the EPAC with improved RH recovery each night, but poor RH
recovery will still be an issue above ~2000ft. Gusty onshore winds
will persist especially each afternoon and evening with gusts up
to 25 to 35 mph through gaps, passes and favored valleys.
Note : All winds are 20-foot Winds Unless otherwise specified.
