Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
126 PM CDT Thu Sep 3 2026
.DISCUSSION...
Fire weather concerns remain low through next week, mainly due to
relatively light 20-ft winds and minimum relative humidity staying
above critical criteria each afternoon. Overnight recoveries will be
good to excellent. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible each
afternoon/evening, mainly west of the Pecos. Any showers and
thunderstorms that do develop may be accompanied by gusty and
erratic winds. Lightning may cause some fire starts but relatively
light winds should mitigate spread.
