.DISCUSSION...

A warm front will lift away from the region the remainder of the day.
Scattered to numerous showers and a couple of thunderstorms will
develop late this morning and move across the area this afternoon.

A surface trough near the Blue Ridge this afternoon will drift toward
the southeast toward the Chesapeake Bay tonight into Thursday. This
trough may ignite multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms during
the day on Thursday. If storms develop, there is enough heat and
humidity to result in brief heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and
strong wind gusts. Otherwise, it will be increasingly hot and humid
through the end of the week.

A cold front brings potential for more widespread strong to severe
thunderstorms Friday into Friday night. High pressure looks to
return for at least the first half of this weekend resulting in
lower rain chances before another frontal system approaches early
next week. There is uncertainty in how quickly this front and any
associated showers and thunderstorms reach the region; it could be
as early as Sunday afternoon.
