The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Fayette County in south central Illinois...
* Until 200 AM CDT Tuesday.
* At 759 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain
have already fallen across the warned area today. Additional
rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Vandalia, St. Elmo, Ramsey, Brownstown, Farina, Shobonier, Wrights
Corner, Avena, La Clede, Pittsburg, Shafter, St. Peter, Bingham,
Hagerstown, St. Paul, Bayle City, St. James and Loogootee.
This includes the following State Parks...
Ramsey Lake State Park.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 70 in Illinois between exits 61 and 76. Interstate 57 in
Illinois near exit 135.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
