Fire Weather Planning Forecast for S MS and SE LA
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
438 PM CST Sat Jan 24 2026

.DISCUSSION...

High relative humidity, warmer than average temperatures, and
increased chances for wetting rains will remain in place through
S. Saturday night. The chances for a freezing rain event is still
possible across far northwestern portions of the outlook area
mainly north and northwest of Baton Rouge. This area is going to
be very close to the freezing line and a small shift of only a
few from miles could mean the difference from little to no
impacts to significant impacts from ice accumulations.Around
Baton Rouge to McComb and west of I-55 there is still a very
small chance of a light glaze to possibly a few hundredths of an
inch of ice on elevated objects. After the precip moves out very
cold temperatures, gusty north winds, and lower humidity values
of 35 to 45 percent will be in place on Monday and Tuesday.
Temperatures will gradually warm on Wednesday and humidity values
will begin to increase as southerly winds redevelop.
