Fire Weather Planning Forecast for S MS and SE LA
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
538 PM CDT Thu Sep 3 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Coverage of showers and thunderstorms will be somewhat more
widespread tomorrow than the last few days. At least some shower
and thunderstorm activity can be anticipated each day through the
forecast period, with no completely dry days anticipated. Rain
totals will be highly dependent on where the heavier
thunderstorms move as a few storms will be capable of producing
locally heavy rainfall, especially in areas near the coast. Many
areas, however, are likely to see less than one half inch of
rain. Afternoon minimum humidities will be well above critical
levels all weekend, not dropping much below 50 percent today,
even in the driest areas, and remaining above 60 percent tomorrow
through Sunday across most of the area.
