...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT NORTHEASTERN PISCATAQUIS...
SOUTHEASTERN AROOSTOOK AND NORTH CENTRAL PENOBSCOT COUNTIES THROUGH
115 PM EDT...

At 1231 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Mount Katahdin, moving east at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Patten, Mount Katahdin, Sherman, Island Falls, Smyrna, Mount Chase,
Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument, Sherman Station, Baxter
State Park, Oakfield, Stacyville, Crystal, Dyer Brook, Hersey, Silver
Ridge, Benedicta, Katahdin Lake, and Monarda.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 95 between mile markers 256 and 288.
 State Highway 11 between Stacyville and Patten.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until
this storm passes.
