...A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of southern Fairfield,
southeastern Newberry, north central Lexington, northern Richland and
southwestern Kershaw Counties through 615 PM EDT...

At 534 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Jenkinsville, or 7 miles southeast of VC Summer Nuclear Station,
moving east at 40 mph.

...Boaters on Lake Murray Should Seek Safe Harbor...

HAZARD...Wind gusts 40 to 45 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Columbia, Irmo, Forest Acres, Camden, Dentsville, St. Andrews,
Arcadia Lakes, Lugoff, Villages at Sandhill, Columbia International
University, Jenkinsville, Elgin, Killian, Harbison State Forest,
Woodfield, Sesquicentennial State Park, Lake Carolina, Fort Jackson,
Ballentine, and Blythewood.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 20 in South Carolina between mile markers 68 and 92.
 Interstate 26 between mile markers 87 and 103.
 Interstate 77 between mile markers 14 and 31.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

If on or near Lake Murray, get out of the water and move indoors or
inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles
from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close
enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not
be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
