Winds are currently light and variable across the Denver metro area,
and model guidance suggests light NW to NE winds this afternoon.
Daytime mixing and downsloping enhancement could bring sporadic
northwest gusts of around 20KT, but the chance appears to be too low
(20% chance) to introduce in the TAFs at this time, and impacts
should be minimal.
A cold front will move through the region between 12Z and 14Z
Saturday morning, bringing northerly winds and a few gusts up to 20-
25KT. Winds after the cold frontal passage will generally remain
steady at KDEN and KAPA, taking on a more easterly component by 22Z.
No precipitation is expected, and mostly clear skies prevail through
the TAF period.

VFR conditions are expected for the forecast period. Gusty winds
will develop at all terminals this afternoon. Terminals towards
the SE of the state could experience strong outflow gusts from
distant thunderstorms. These gusts are not represented in the
TAFs due to the low confidence on exact timing and location. The
threat is most likely for smaller terminals in Bent, Baca, and
Prowers county between 21-04Z. Overnight, winds will calm and
veer to northerlies before increasing through the morning. Cloud
coverage is expected to increase heading into tomorrow morning,
yet VFR still remains.

period under clear skies and light, diurnally driven winds. Light
southerly drainage flow is expected through around 16Z before
becoming light and variable and then switching to the to a northerly
upvalley flow between 16-18Z. Winds will switch back to the
southerly drainage flow again by around 4Z this evening.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...VFR conditions prevail
areawide under mostly clear skies. Light westerly flow is expected
across a majority of terminals on Friday, with the exception of
southwest Wyoming and eastern Utah where gusts of up to 25kts are
expected during the afternoon hours.

Skies will remain mostly clear today with VFR conditions
through sunset. Most terminals will see a west to northwest wind
this afternoon with gusts of 20 to near 30 knots. KCOD will see
a sharp northerly wind shift around 23Z as a cold front pushes
south into the area. This will reach KWRL around 01Z, weakening
as it approaches central Wyoming between 04Z and 06Z. Lower
clouds and showers will follow overnight, with MVFR ceilings at
KCOD and KWRL between 09Z and 12Z and then at KCPR by 15Z
Saturday. The best chance for precipitation impacts will be at
KCOD and KWRL, though low confidence precludes more than a
PROB30 mention. Conditions will begin improving late in the
period toward 18Z Saturday.

Some smoke from the wildfire is affecting KCDR this morning.
This evening a cold front will pass through the area switching
the flow from a westerly wind to a Northerly one effectively
cutting off the smoke supply to KCDR and raising visibility back
to P6SM. Due to the topographic bowl KLAR is in this cold front
may keep the winds light and variable overnight before switching
to a stronger Northerly mind morning around 15z.

VFR conditions are expected through the forecast period.
Skies will be clear to mostly clear save for some diurnal
development across northern Nebraska during the afternoon. Winds
will be gusty out of the south, peaking around 25 to 30 knots
with stronger winds remaining west of the terminals. Tonight,
expect LLWS to affect northern Nebraska including the VTN
airspace. A frontal boundary will settle south and lead to a
flip to northeasterly winds at area terminals through the
morning Saturday with gusty winds resuming by late in the
period.

VFR conditions will rule through the TAF period at both
terminals. S to SSW winds at 20 knots will gust to 30 knots
through the afternoon. Occasional gusts up to 35 knots are
possible early this afternoon, at the beginning of the TAF
period. S winds are expected to decrease to ~10-15 knots after
sunset and persist overnight. A period of strong southerly winds
assoc/w outflow emanating from thunderstorms in southwest KS is
possible at the Goodland terminal this evening (depending on
thunderstorm coverage/evolution). Winds will shift to the N-NNE
and increase to 15-25 knots in assoc/w a cold frontal passage a
few hours after sunrise (~14-16Z) Sat, near the end of the 18Z
TAF period.

Primarily VFR conditions are forecast through the TAF period
although forecasted convection may lower flight conditions. The
period will begin with mostly clear skies with primarily a south
wind at around 15 KTs is expected. Around 1-2Z, convection is
forecast to develop and move in from Colorado. The next few hours
until around 8-10Z, the convection may impact all sites with lowered
ceilings and visibilities. CAMs have very little agreement with some
like the HRRR showing an organized MCS while others like the NAMNST
has more limited scattered convection. At no given hour does
ensembles have a >30% chance for rain/thunder at a site except LBL
at around 4Z. As a result, they are the only one with TS in the TAF
although all or no sites may experience thunderstorms tonight. At
the end of the period, a strong front is forecast to move through,
and shift winds dramatically out of the north.

MVFR ceilings are currently being observed at KAMA. The ceilings
should lift over the next few hours and then VFR conditions are
forecast through 00z at the terminals. The wind will shift to out
of the south during the day with gusts up to 30 kts. Thunderstorms
will once again be possible after 00z at all sites and PROB30
groups have been kept given that potential. Any storms that move
over the terminals may produce erratic and strong wind gusts and
large hail in addition to lightning. The wind will decrease after
any potential thunderstorms go through but should remain out of
the south.

Low clouds in eastern New Mexico have mostly burned off with VFR
conditions prevailing. Showers and thunderstorms are developing
over the Sacramento mountains of south central New Mexico, and
these will expand to the central highlands through the mid
afternoon, and then to the northeast highlands by the late
afternoon with cells moving east northeastward into the plains
through the evening. Storms in these areas will be prone to heavy
downpours, frequent lightning, hail, and gusty downburst winds.
Between the central mountain chain and Continental Divide of New
Mexico, storms will struggle to develop, but a few sparse ones
will manage, producing little rainfall, but very gusty downburst
winds through early evening. Prevailing winds will be light to
moderate outside of showers and thunderstorms. Storms should
mostly end by midnight with a lone cell or two possibly surviving
in the northeastern plains. Storms will be slightly more subdued
in the eastern half of New Mexico on Saturday with the drier,
weaker storms in central areas expanding toward the Arizona
border.
