Areas of near surface smoke are expected through the end of the work
week. The next few days should be mostly dry for far eastern South
Dakota into west central Minnesota. There is a 15 to 30 percent
chance of some showers and thunderstorms into this evening mainly
around and west of the Missouri River valley. Late tonight into
Friday morning, precipitation chances increase to 50 to 80 percent
and are focused mainly west of the James River. Heading into Friday
evening, the next round of thunderstorms is expected to develop
across the western half of South Dakota. An isolated strong to severe
thunderstorm, capable of one inch hail and thunderstorm wind gusts up
to 60 mph, will be possible, mainly west of U.S. Highway 83.

Low temperatures tonight will dip into the mid 50s to low 60s. High
temperatures on Friday should warm mainly into the 70s.
