Rangeland Fire Danger Statement

.DISCUSSION...

The area of low pressure that brought rain and drizzle to the region
will exit across southeastern South Dakota into southern Minnesota by
daybreak Sunday. Fog will reduce visibility to under a mile at times
across and east of the Prairie Coteau of eastern South Dakota, as
well as between the Missouri River and James River Valley over
central South Dakota. Dry weather will return for Sunday through at
least the day Tuesday.

Temperatures Sunday will be nearly 15 degrees above normal for this
time of year. Relative humidity will remain at or above 40 percent
through Tuesday. Winds will be out of the west to southwest Sunday
afternoon around 10 to 15 mph.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low.  Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.


The outlook for Sunday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the moderate category.
