...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM MDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast New Mexico, including the following
  county, southwestern Chaves.

* WHEN...Until 1000 PM MDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams
  continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.
  Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be
  passable. It will take several hours for all the water from these
  storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 400 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the warned area. Between 0.5 and 3 inches of rain
    have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 1 inch are possible in
    the warned area.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Hagerman, Dunken, Elk, Lake Arthur and Roswell Correctional
    Facility.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
