...Elevated Fire Risk Expected This Afternoon into Early
Evening...

The combination of gusty winds and low afternoon relative
humidities will lead to an elevated fire risk today. Sustained
south to southwest winds from 5 to 15 mph with some higher gusts
into the 15 to 25 mph range are expected during the afternoon
hours. Relative humidities will range from the upper 20s to mid
30s. These conditions could allow for fires to become
uncontrolled.

Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether
you can burn today. Use extreme caution when burning as fires may
get out of hand quickly in these conditions.

...INCREASED FIRE DANGER TODAY FROM 11 AM to 6 PM EST ACROSS
PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA...

The combination relative humidity values falling to between 20
and 25 percent, and southerly winds gusting 15 to 20 mph, will
lead to an increased risk for adverse fire behavior today.

Outdoor burning is discouraged. Residents and visitors are urged
to properly dispose of cigarette butts, matches, and any other
flammable items in appropriate containers. Additionally, exercise
caution if operating any equipment that could create sparks, and
keep vehicles off of dry grass. Most dry grasses, dead leaves, and
other tree litter could easily ignite and spread fire quickly.

...INCREASED FIRE DANGER FROM 11 AM EST THIS MORNING
THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON...

Dead brush and leaf litter have become very dry in recent days
across much of western North Carolina due to breezy conditions
and low relative humidity. These conditions are forecast once
again on Tuesday. Relative humidity will fall below 30 percent for
most of the afternoon and wind gusts may reach 20 mph at times.
These factors combined with dry vegetation will result in elevated
wildfire danger, especially this afternoon.

Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether
you can burn Tuesday. If you do burn, use extreme caution since
fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.

...SLICK SPOTS POSSIBLE TUESDAY MORNING...

Rain will overspread the area late tonight and continue into the
day on Tuesday. Temperatures will be near or just below freezing
as the rain moves in so a brief period of freezing rain may be
possible at the start of the Tuesday morning commute. This could
lead to a light glaze on elevated surfaces and a few slick spots
on area roadways, especially bridges and overpasses. You may want
to allow for some extra time to reach your destination Tuesday
morning.

Anomalously dry air and fuels, combined with a southwesterly wind
that will strengthen and occasionally gust to around 20 mph
during the afternoon, will produce increased fire danger Tuesday.

Outdoor burning is discouraged. Please consult your local burn
permitting authorities as to whether burning is allowed. If you
must burn, use extreme caution, as fires can spread rapidly under
these conditions.

Relative humidity remains below 20 percent across much of
northeast Georgia. The combination of low Relative Humidity
values and very dry vegetation has led to high fire danger
conditions.

Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether
you can burn this evening. If you do burn, use extreme caution
since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
