WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations 1
  to 2 feet in the most persistent lake snows, mainly across the
  northern half of the county.

* WHERE...Oswego County.

* WHEN...Until 1 PM EST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult with very poor visibility
  and deep snow cover on roads.

During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally
heavy snow with greatly reduced visibilities to dry conditions just
a few miles away. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,
visibility, and road conditions.

...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST
WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations 2
  to 3 feet in the most persistent lake snows, with the greatest
  accumulations from the northern portion of the Tug Hill to the
  southern suburbs of the Watertown area and across the center
  portion of Lewis county.

* WHERE...Jefferson and Lewis Counties. The heaviest and most
  impactful snowfall is expected through Tuesday night.

* WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult to impossible with very
  poor visibility and deep snow cover on roads. Some major roadways
  such as Interstate 81 could temporarily close.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally
heavy snow with greatly reduced visibilities to dry conditions just
a few miles away. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,
visibility, and road conditions.

You should stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go
outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep you
warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your
risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat will
keep you from losing your body heat.

  20 inches in the most persistent lake snows across the northern
  third of the county. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will also
  produce some localized blowing and drifting snow near the
  lakeshore.

* WHERE...Chautauqua County.

* WHEN...Until 10 AM EST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult with very poor visibility
  and deep snow cover on roads.

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations 1 to
  2 feet in the most persistent lake snows. The greatest amounts are
  expected from far northwestern Cattaraugus county...across some of
  the Buffalo Southtowns such as Hamburg, Orchard Park, and East
  Aurora...to far northwestern Wyoming county.

* WHERE...Wyoming, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie Counties.

* WHEN...Until 10 AM EST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult to impossible with very
  poor visibility and deep snow cover on roads. Some major roadways,
  such as the New York state Thruway,  could temporarily close.

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations
  10 to 20 inches in the most persistent lake snows, with the
  greatest accumulations from South Buffalo across the Buffalo
  Southtowns into southwestern Genesee county. The snow could be
  accompany by a clap of thunder at times.

* WHERE...Northern Erie and Genesee Counties, mainly from South
  Buffalo and the Buffalo Southtowns eastward across southern
  Genesee county.

* WHEN...Until 4 AM EST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult to impossible with very
  poor visibility and deep snow cover on roads. Some major roadways,
  such as the New York state Thruway,  could temporarily close.
