* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations 2
to 3 feet in the most persistent lake snows, with the greatest
accumulations from the northern portion of the Tug Hill to the
southern suburbs of the Watertown area and across the center
portion of Lewis county.
* WHERE...Jefferson and Lewis Counties. The heaviest and most
impactful snowfall is expected through Tuesday night.
* WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult to impossible with very
poor visibility and deep snow cover on roads. Some major roadways
such as Interstate 81 could temporarily close.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally
heavy snow with greatly reduced visibilities to dry conditions just
a few miles away. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,
visibility, and road conditions.
You should stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go
outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep you
warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your
risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat will
keep you from losing your body heat.

Buffalo and the Buffalo Southtowns eastward across southern
Genesee county.
