URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Albuquerque NM
246 AM MDT Sun May 18 2025

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT TODAY FROM 11AM TO 9PM MDT FOR THE
MIDDLE RIO GRANDE VALLEY, WEST CENTRAL BASIN AND RANGE,
SANDIA/MANZANO MOUNTAINS, AND CENTRAL HIGHLANDS, DUE TO STRONG
WINDS, LOW HUMIDITY, AND HIGH FIRE DANGER...

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
MONDAY EVENING FOR THE MIDDLE RIO GRANDE VALLEY AND WEST CENTRAL
BASIN AND RANGE DUE TO STRONG WINDS, LOW HUMIDITY, AND HIGH FIRE
DANGER...

.Strong southwest to west winds today will combine with very low
relative humidity to create several hours of critical fire
weather conditions, with the highest fire danger in the southern
portion of the Middle Rio Grande Valley where there will be up to
ten hours of single digit relative humidity. A Pacific cold front
will pass through late in the day, dropping temperatures and
increasing humidities. However, another round of gusty west winds
may create critical fire weather conditions in south-central and
southwestern areas again Monday afternoon. A stronger Pacific cold
front will move through the area Monday and there is a low chance
of gusty virga showers with its passage.
