Northeast Suffolk-Southeast Suffolk-
338 AM EDT Mon Oct 13 2025

...COASTAL FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...1 1/2 to 2 1/2 ft of inundation above ground level
possible in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline
for this afternoon, tonight and Monday afternoon high tide
  cycles.

* WHERE...Northeast Suffolk and Southeast Suffolk Counties.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Moderate coastal flooding expected,
with 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 ft of inundation above ground level in
vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. This would
result in several road closures and flooding of numerous low
lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns and
homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront. Vehicles
parked in vulnerable areas near the waterfront will likely
become flooded. Flooding will also extend inland from the
waterfront along tidal rivers and bays.

* SHORELINE IMPACTS FOR TWIN FORKS OF LONG ISLAND...Breaking
waves of 4 to 8 ft along the north and east facing shorelines
of Peconic and Gardiners bay will result in significant beach
erosion and splashover seawalls and bulkheads, exacerbating
flooding of shoreline roads and properties. Minor damage is
  possible to waterfront structures.

* SHORELINE IMPACTS FOR OCEANFRONT...Large breaking waves of 8
to 12 ft along the oceanfront on an east to west sweep will
result in significant beach erosion and flooding. Widespread
dune erosion is likely with localized overwashes possible,
resulting in damage to dune structures and localized flooding
of roadways and vulnerable structures behind protective dunes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...This forecast has been weighted towards a
reasonable worst case scenario to account for differences in
model depiction of low pressure track and intensity, and provide
a safety margin for planning. Water levels would fall on lower
end or short of current forecast range if winds remain more from
  the north versus the northeast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If
travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through
water of unknown depth.

...COASTAL FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...1 1/2 to 2 1/2 feet of inundation above ground level is
expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline
for this afternoon, but moreso tonight and Monday afternoon
  high tide cycles.

* WHERE...Southern Westchester, Bronx, Northwest Suffolk,
Northern Queens and Northern Nassau Counties.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Minor to moderate coastal flooding
expected, with 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 ft of inundation above ground
level in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.
This will result in several road closures and flooding of
numerous low lying properties including parking lots, parks,
lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront.
Vehicles parked in vulnerable areas near the waterfront will
likely become flooded. Flooding will also extend inland from
the waterfront along tidal rivers and bays, including the
  Hudson River.

* SHORELINE IMPACTS...Breaking waves of 3 to 6 ft along the
immediate shoreline will result in significant beach erosion
and splashover seawalls and bulkheads, exacerbating flooding
of shoreline roads and properties. Minor damage is possible to
  waterfront structures.

If
travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through
water of unknown depth.

...COASTAL FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EDT THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...2 to 2 1/2 ft of inundation above ground level expected
in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline for
tonight and Monday afternoon high tide cycles. The probability
for 3 ft of inundation is low and localized.

* WHERE...Southern Queens County.

* WHEN...Until 6 PM EDT this evening.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Moderate coastal flooding expected,
with 2 to 2 1/2 ft of inundation above ground level in
vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. There is a
a low and localized probability for major flooding with 3 ft
of inundation. This will result in numerous road closures and
widespread flooding of low lying property including parking
lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses near the waterfront.
Flooding may extend well inland from the waterfront and
shoreline along tidal inlets, rivers and bays, which could
flood some roads, homes and business that typically don`t
experience flooding. Cars parked in vulnerable areas will
  likely be flooded and damaged.

* SHORELINE IMPACTS FOR OCEANFRONT...Large breaking waves of 5
to 10 ft along on an east to west sweep will result in
significant beach erosion and flooding. Widespread dune
erosion is likely, resulting in some damage to dune structures.

If
travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through
water of unknown depth.

coastal flood impacts are likely, especially during this
afternoon`s high tide when the maximum water level is forecast
to occur. Severe beach erosion and dune breaching are possible
due to very high surf conditions. Interests along the Atlantic
coast, back bays, Raritan Bay, and tidal waterways should remain
alert for forecast updates during this significant coastal
  flood event.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Coastal Flood Warning means that moderate or major tidal
flooding is occurring or imminent. Be prepared for rising water
levels and take appropriate action to protect life and property.
Follow the recommendations of local emergency management
officials.

Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The water may be
deeper than you think it is. You will be putting yourself in
danger and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to costly
repairs.

Visit the National Water Prediction Service at
https://water.noaa.gov/wfo/phi for additional water level and
flood impact information for your local tide gauge.
