...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM PDT WEDNESDAY...
* WHAT...For the Heat Advisory, high temperatures up to 102 degrees.
For the Wind Advisory, west winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40
mph expected.
* WHERE...Buena Vista, Buttonwillow - Lost Hills - I5, Coalinga -
Avenal, and West Side Mountains South of 198.
* WHEN...For the Heat Advisory, until 10 PM PDT this evening. For
the Wind Advisory, until 8 AM PDT Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Hot
temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
