CDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Temperatures up to 106 expected.

* WHERE...Lower Brewster County and Terrell Counties.

* WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 8 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses. Extreme heat
  will significantly increase the potential for heat related
  illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in
  outdoor activities.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids even if you don`t feel thirsty, but avoid
00alcohol and caffeine. Stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on elderly and vulnerable relatives and
neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Look before you lock! Do not leave young children and pets in
unattended vehicles for even a moment. Car interiors will very
quickly reach lethal temperatures.

* WHAT...Temperatures around 105 degrees expected this afternoon and
  105 to 108 Wednesday afternoon.

* WHERE...Kimble, Mason, McCulloch, and San Saba Counties.

* WHEN...For the first Heat Advisory, until 7 PM CDT this evening.
  For the second Heat Advisory, from 1 PM to 7 PM CDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Heat Advisory means that hot weather conditions are occurring or
expected. This will create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible.

Never, ever, leave children or pets alone in enclosed vehicles, not
even for a few minutes. Car interiors can reach lethal temperatures
in a matter of minutes.

Stay indoors and seek air-conditioned buildings. Drink water more
than usual, and avoid dehydrating alcoholic, sugary, or caffeinated
drinks. Dress for the heat by wearing lightweight and light colored
clothing. Eat small meals and eat more often. Monitor those with a
higher vulnerability to heat, including small children. Check in on
family, friends, and neighbors, especially the elderly. If engaging
in outdoor activity, take longer and more frequent breaks and avoid
the hottest parts of the day.

...EXTREME HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM TO 9 PM CDT WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...For the Heat Advisory, air temperatures near 104 degrees,
  except near 110 along the Rio Grande. For the Extreme Heat
  Warning, dangerously hot conditions with air temperatures of 105
  to 108 degrees, with near 115 degrees along the Rio Grande.

* WHERE...A portion of south central Texas.

* WHEN...For the Heat Advisory, until 1 PM CDT Wednesday. For the
  Extreme Heat Warning, from 1 PM to 9 PM CDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
  extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high
  humidity may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
