...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 9 PM CDT THIS
EVENING FOR GUSTY NORTH WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY FOR PORTIONS OF
CENTRAL NEBRASKA...

The National Weather Service in North Platte has issued a Red
Flag Warning for gusty north winds and low humidity, which is in
effect from Noon to 9 PM CDT this evening. The Fire Weather Watch
is no longer in effect.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 209, Loup Rivers Basin.

* TIMING...Tuesday, Noon CDT to 9 PM CDT.

* WINDS...North 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Falling to the upper teens, mainly south of
  Highway 91.

* TEMPERATURES...Highs in the middle to upper 70s.

* LIGHTNING...None expected.

* IMPACTS...Any fire starts will spread rapidly and be difficult
  to control.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

* AFFECTED AREA...In Iowa, Lyon, Osceola, Dickinson, Sioux,
  O`Brien, Clay, Plymouth, Cherokee, Buena Vista, Woodbury and
  Ida. In Minnesota, Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Cottonwood, Nobles,
  Jackson, Pipestone and Rock. In Nebraska, Dixon and Dakota. In
  South Dakota, Beadle, Kingsbury, Brookings, Gregory, Jerauld,
  Sanborn, Miner, Lake, Moody, Brule, Aurora, Davison, Hanson,
  McCook, Minnehaha, Charles Mix, Douglas, Hutchinson, Turner,
  Lincoln, Bon Homme, Yankton, Clay and Union.

* WINDS...Northwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 20 percent.

* IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread
  quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

* WINDS...Northerly winds between 15 to 20 mph will gust as high
  as 30 to 35 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 15 to 20 percent.

* IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will spread quickly. Outdoor
  burning is not recommended.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...South Central Nebraska Locations outside
  of the warning will still be expected to reach elevated to near-
  critical fire weather conditions.

* WHERE...Knox, Cedar, Antelope, Pierce, and Wayne counties.

* WHEN...From Noon to 9 PM CDT Tuesday.

  burning is not recommended.
