The National Weather Service in Jackson has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  East Central Harlan County in southeastern Kentucky...

* Until 945 PM EDT.

* At 840 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported flash flooding in
  Dizney. Between 0.75 and 1.75 inches of rain have fallen. Flooding
  impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected.
  Flash flooding is already occurring.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

  SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Clover-Darby, Dizney, Highsplint and Black Mountain.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

* At 803 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
  have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inch are
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
  to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
           highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
           drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Shady Valley.

* At 723 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
  have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.5 to 2 inches in 1
  hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in
  the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
  shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
           highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
           drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Bristol Tn, Bristol Va, Walnut Hill, Nickelsville, Blountville,
  Hiltons and South Holston Dam.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 81 in Tennessee between mile markers 70 and 75. Interstate
81 in Virginia between mile markers 1 and 5.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
