The Air Pollution Action Day declared by the Illinois Environmental
Protection Agency for the greater Chicago Metropolitan Area REMAINS
IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT TONIGHT.
A Chicago area "Air Pollution Action Day" is declared when weather
conditions are such that widespread ozone and or particulate levels
are expected to be at or above the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups
(USG) category of the Air Quality Index for multiple days. Wildfire
smoke is expected to continue to have an impact on particulate levels
with daily 24 hour AQI forecasts at USG or higher through this
evening.
USG category - Active children and adults, especially people with
pulmonary or respiratory disease such as asthma, should limit
prolonged outdoor activity.
Unhealthy category - Everyone should reduce prolonged activities or
heavy exertion outdoors. Active children, older adults, and people
with pulmonary or respiratory disease such as asthma should avoid
prolonged activities or heavy exertion outdoors.
Area residents are urged to reduce pollution levels. Air quality
forecasts, current air quality, and tips on how you can reduce your
emissions can be found at www.airnow.gov.

by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management due to smoke
from wildfires in Canada and IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT
SATURDAY NIGHT.
Concentrations of fine particulate matter are expected to be at
unhealthy levels for sensitive groups. For additional

...AIR QUALITY ALERT NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT SATURDAY NIGHT...
The officials at the Indiana Department of Environmental Management
have declared an Air Quality Action Day for Friday June 6th and
Saturday June 7th.
Air Quality Action Days for PM 2.5 have now been issued through
Saturday, mainly due to smoke from Canadian wildfires. The associated
fine particulate levels are expected to be in the Unhealthy for
Sensitive Groups range. Active children and adults, and people with
respiratory disease, such as asthma should limit prolonged outdoor
exposure.
Here are some recommended actions that the public can take:
* Walk, bike, carpool or use public transportation.
* Avoid using the drive-through and combine errands into one trip.
* Avoid refueling your vehicle or using gasoline-powered lawn
equipment until after 7pm.
* Turn off your engine when idling for more than 30 seconds.
* Conserve energy by turning off lights or setting the air
conditioner to 75 degrees or above.
