...LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATION TODAY...

Light snow across the area early this morning will increase in
coverage and intensity toward sunrise in the I-70 corridor. This
band of moderate snow will push south affecting the Tri-State
region by mid morning, eventually pushing south of the area by
early to mid afternoon.

Snow amounts of 1-2 inches will common for a good portion of the
area on grassy surfaces, with melting on concrete surfaces
limiting accumulations. Main impacts are expected to be reduced
visibilities and some slick spots on mainly bridges and
overpasses.

Temperatures today will remain steady mainly in the upper 20s.
These cold temperatures combined with gusty winds of 20-25 mph
will result in wind chill values in the teens to lower 20s.

Motorists should exercise caution. Plan extra time for the Monday
morning commute.

...Light Snow Showers Around For the Rest of the Night - More
Robust Snow Showers Expected This Afternoon and Evening...

Mainly light snow showers will continue through the night as
temperatures fall into the mid 20s by dawn. Another, more robust,
round of snow showers is expected this afternoon and evening when
bands of steadier snow is possible for up to several hours.

Snow accumulations will generally be light through the night,
generally one-half inch or less on grassy and elevated surfaces,
especially given warm surface temperatures. More significant snow
accumulations are possible this afternoon and evening with
another round of snow showers plus the potential for a steadier
period of snow, though the progressive nature of the system will
keep total snow accumulations below 2 inches. The warm surface
temperatures should keep snow depths much lower than actual snow
accumulations.

Temperatures later today are only expected to reach the lower to
mid 30s before falling back into the 20s this evening into the
overnight, which could allow for some isolated slick spots tonight
into Tuesday morning. Some generally minor travel impacts are
possible today into tonight.

Those traveling through this evening should plan on potentially
slippery road conditions and reduced visibilities at times,
especially for roadways at 1500 feet elevation and above.

...Periods of Snow Showers at Times This Evening through Monday
Evening...

Colder air continues to move into the region today behind a
strong cold front. As temperatures drop, scattered rain showers
will change over to snow showers this evening. Periods of light
snow showers and flurries are expected tonight with just a dusting
of accumulation possible.

A stronger weather disturbance will move into the region during
the day on Monday bringing widespread snow showers and snow
squalls to the region. Temperatures on Monday will remain just
above freezing. Minor snow accumulations will be possible during
the daytime hours, especially in heavier snow showers and snow
squalls. In general, up to an inch of snow accumulation will be
possible in areas east of I-65. Some travel impacts will be
possible on Monday, especially on bridges and overpasses.
