Patchy dense freezing fog is possible in the French Broad River
valley early this morning.
In addition, precipitation will begin after midnight across the
mountains, possibly as a brief wintry mix. A quick transition to
light snow at elevations above 3500 feet and cold rain below 3500
feet is expected. A light accumulation of snow is possible at high
elevations by daybreak.

Light accumulating snow is expected to continue into Monday
afternoon at elevations above 3500 feet, with a light accumulation
possible.

A cold front will move through the region Monday. A period of light
snow is possible over northern portions of central North Carolina,
with the highest chances from late morning through the late
afternoon. Snow accumulation of a dusting to a half inch is
expected, and some places near the Virginia border could see an inch
of snow accumulation. In addition, very cold low temperatures in the
teens Monday night could lead to patchy black ice from Monday night
into early Tuesday morning.
