afternoon between 30 and 40 mph, locally up to 45 mph over the
Piedmont. Residents should secure loose outside items, including

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southwest North
Carolina...east Tennessee and southwest Virginia.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Winds will increase this morning and remain strong in the
Tennessee Valley and southwest Virginia through the afternoon,
with gusts around 40 mph at times. In the East Tennessee
mountains, wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph will continue into tonight.
A Wind Advisory has been issued for portions of the area.

Following the cold front`s passage, a northwest flow snowfall
event will bring accumulating snow to parts of the Southern
Appalachians and southwest Virginia later today and into early
Thursday. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday

An Arctic cold snap following another cold front later Sunday
into early Monday, may bring overnight lows in the teens to
single digits. Cold wind chills will also be possible, especially
across the highest elevations.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation will likely be needed for snowfall reports
tonight and tomorrow. Please relay any information to the NWS.
