...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM CDT FRIDAY...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of northeast Kansas, including the following
counties, Pottawatomie and Riley.
* WHEN...Until 800 AM CDT Friday.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1011 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain
have fallen.
- Riley County officials report several roadways remain closed
due to flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Riley, Leonardville, Olsburg, Randolph and Tuttle Creek Lake.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

deaths occur in vehicles.
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Wildcat Creek at Manhattan Scenic Drive.
* WHEN...Until late tomorrow evening.
* IMPACTS...At 14.0 feet, Flood waters reach Poliska Lane, just
north of Fort Riley Boulevard.
At 16.0 feet, Flood waters begin to reach North 1200 Road,
commonly known as Wildcat Creek Road, just upstream of the Scenic
Drive bridge.
At 17.0 feet, The low spot in Anneberg Circle is flooded with
water very close to the golf course clubhouse.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:15 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 10.3 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
late this evening to a crest of 16.8 feet just after midnight
tonight. It will then fall below flood stage late tomorrow
morning.

Creek.
At 20.0 feet, 50th Road just south of the bridge over the Salt
Creek floods.
At 20.2 feet, Deck of 50th Road bridge over the Salt Creek floods.
At 21.0 feet, Flood waters are over one half mile wide over
cultivated farm land 3 miles east southeast of the town of Ada.

- At 8:45 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 19.7 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 20.1
feet tomorrow evening. It will then fall below flood stage
Monday afternoon.

* WHEN...From Friday afternoon to late Sunday evening.
* IMPACTS...At 19.0 feet, Water begins to overflow into the low
portion of a cultivated field on the right bank, upstream,
adjacent to the gage site.
At 23.0 feet, Rural overflow begins around the community of Niles.
At 24.0 feet, Low land flooding continues along the river.
At 27.0 feet, Arrowhead Road west of Niles floods.

- At 8:30 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 10.6 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
tomorrow afternoon to a crest of 28.1 feet early Saturday
morning. It will then fall below flood stage late Sunday
morning.
