...ELEVATED FIRE DANGER THIS AFTERNOON DUE TO LOW HUMIDITY AND
BREEZY WINDS FOR PARTS OF EAST CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA
AND SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA...
Warm and very dry conditions are expected this afternoon, with
humidity levels as low as 15 to 25 percent. Coupled with southeast
to south winds gusting up to 20 to 25 mph, fire danger conditions
will be elevated and may reach near critical levels. Fire danger
will be greatest in localized areas where more prevalent dry or
dormant grasses are still receptive to fire starts and spread.
Winds will remain breezy or even increase further through the
overnight and humidity levels will be slow to recover, so fire
danger may remain elevated during the nighttime hours.
Check with local officials before attempting any outdoor burning
today. Do not leave open fires unattended. Please be sure that
your campfire is completely out.

...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS TODAY DUE TO LOW RELATIVE
HUMIDITIES AND DRY FUELS FOR MUCH OF CENTRAL THROUGH SOUTHERN
MINNESOTA INTO WESTERN WISCONSIN...
Temperatures in the lower 70s to lower 80s this afternoon within
a dry environment will cause minimum relative humidity values to
drop to between 15 and 25 percent. Winds will gradually shift
from northeast to southeast through this evening with sustained
speeds from 8 to 15 mph, highest over western Minnesota. Gusts
could reach 20 mph.
Any areas with dry grasses or vegetation will be susceptible to
elevated fire weather conditions. Check with the MN or WI DNR or
your local county before attempting any outdoor burning.
