...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 7 PM CDT FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 103 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Minnesota, and
  eas,t North Dakota.

* WHEN...From 11 AM to 7 PM CDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take extra precautions when outside. Stay hydrated by drinking
plenty of fluids without caffeine or alcohol. Take frequent rest
breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Wear lightweight
and loose fitting clothing.

Be aware of signs indicating heat illness. Take action when you see
symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

If you do not have air conditioning in your home or lack shelter,
you can call 211 for assistance locating appropriate shelter from
the heat.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, Crow Wing, Aitkin, Pine, Koochiching, Cass,
  Itasca, Carlton, St. Louis, and Northern Cook and Lake Counties.
  In Wisconsin, Price, Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Iron,
  Sawyer, and Washburn Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of
  the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation, the St. Croix Band in Burnett
  County, the Red Cliff Band, the Bad River Reservation, the Fond du
  Lac Band, the northwestern area of the Lac du Flambeau Band, the
  Mille Lacs Band, Hinckley, Lena Lake, East Lake and, Big Sandy
  Lake areas and the Bois Forte Band, Deer Creek, Nett Lake and,
  Lake Vermilion areas. Other locations including the Apostle
  Islands National Lakeshore, Madeline Island and Voyageurs National

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
