...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...Increased threat of sneaker waves expected.

* WHERE...Coastal Del Norte, Northern Coastal Humboldt,
  Southwestern Humboldt and Coastal Mendocino Counties.

* WHEN...From Wednesday afternoon through Thursday evening. .

* IMPACTS...Large, unexpected waves can sweep across the beach
  without warning, sweeping people into the sea from rocks,
  jetties, and beaches. These sneaker waves can also move large
  objects such as logs, crushing anyone caught underneath.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Don`t be fooled by an ocean that looks calm.  There can be
30 minutes of small waves before a sneaker wave strikes.  Avoid
rocks and jetties. Avoid steep beaches.  Stay much farther back
from the water and never turn your back on the ocean.

...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING
THROUGH LATE THURSDAY NIGHT...

* WHAT...A moderate risk for sneaker waves is expected.

* WHERE...The beaches of Douglas, Coos, and Curry counties.

* WHEN...From this evening through late Thursday night.

* IMPACTS...Sneaker waves can run up significantly farther on
  beaches than normal, including over rocks and jetties. These
  waves can suddenly knock people off of their feet and sweep
  them into the ocean. The waves can also move logs or other
  objects which could crush or trap anyone caught underneath.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Avoid climbing on rocks and jetties. Stay away from the ocean and
remain out of the water to avoid hazardous conditions.

...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM PDT
WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Strong northwest winds will generate very rough seas
  including strong rip currents at area beaches.

* WHERE...Pacific Coast beaches.

* WHEN...Now through 9 am Wednesday morning.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous conditions are forecast along the shoreline.
  Hazards include strong rip currents and large breaking waves.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay off of jetties, piers, rocks, and other waterside
infrastructure. Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous surf
and NEVER turn your back on the ocean. Monitor local weather,
surf and tide forecasts at www.weather.gov/mtr.
