.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

Dense fog is possible across northwest portions of the outlook
area through the mid morning.

Isolated thunderstorms are possible early this morning with
lightning and small hail the primary threats.

Widespread rain is expected to develop tonight mainly after 7 PM,
with embedded or isolated thunderstorms possible. Gusty winds,
small hail, and lightning are the primary threats.

Strong northwest winds are expected tonight behind a cold front
and could reach up to 40 mph for a few hours.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY

Strong northwest winds up to 40 mph are possible on Tuesday.

DISCUSSION...

Periods of showers and storms are expected across the region
today. The highest coverage of storms should be southeast of I-55
this afternoon. Additional thunderstorms are possible areawide
after sunset. A storm or two may become strong with locally gusty
to damaging wind gusts and hail up to quarter size.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of eastern and
central Missouri as well as west central and southwest Illinois.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Multiple waves of showers and thunderstorms are forecast through
tonight across the area. A few storms could be strong to severe
this afternoon between 12 and 6 PM, mainly across parts of southeast
Missouri and southwest Illinois. Damaging winds and locally heavy
rain are the main threats, with a low chance of a tornado or two.

west central Missouri...as well as extreme eastern Kansas.

There is a low probability of widespread hazardous weather.

.KEY MESSAGES...

- Showers and storms diminish in coverage through sunrise and
  into the morning. Then additional showers and a storms
  develop this afternoon, mainly south of a Paola, KS to
  Moberly, MO line.

- A strong cold front moves through with gusty northwesterly
  winds developing behind it from late this afternoon through
  the overnight hours. Wind gusts of 35-40 mph are possible.

- Overall, more seasonal temperatures expected Sunday through
  the end of the next week. Temperatures drop into the 30s for
  some areas Wednesday morning, leading the potential for frost.
