...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST
SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations
  between 6 and 15 inches. Localized storm total snowfall amounts
  around 20 inches expected. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...Madison, Northern Oneida, Onondaga, and Southern Oneida
  Counties.

* WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow
  could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions
  could impact the Friday evening commute and Saturday morning
  travel.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snowfall rates up to 2.5 inches per hour are
  expected in the heaviest lake effect snow band this afternoon and
  evening. The highest snowfall totals are expected to occur along
  the I-90, I-690 and I-481 corridor in Onondaga county and along
  and south of I-90 in Madison and Oneida counties.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally
heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can
also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,
visibility, and road conditions.

  persistent lake effect bands.  Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...Hamilton and Northern Herkimer Counties.

* WHEN...Until 1 AM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and
  blowing snow. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
  conditions could impact holiday travel.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Upslope snow showers will occur into tonight
  with additional light snow accumulations before tapering off.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally
heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can
also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,
visibility, and road conditions.

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations
  between 3 and 7 inches. Total snow accumulations 4 to 12 inches.
  Winds gusting as high as 35 to 40 mph. Areas of blowing snow.

* WHERE...Southern Herkimer County.

* WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and
  blowing snow. Travel could be difficult. The hazardous conditions
  could impact holiday travel.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The lake effect band will be along or south
  of the Thruway into this evening before diminishing early Saturday
  morning. Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour possible at
  times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter
storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains,
booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help
you survive in case you become stranded.

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations 8 to
  12 inches across the western Southern Tier in the most persistent
  lake snows. Additional snow accumulations 3 to 7 inches for
  Jefferson and Lewis Counties in the most persistent lake snows,
  especially Tug Hill. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will produce
  blowing and drifting snow.

* WHERE...Jefferson, Lewis, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and
  Southern Erie Counties. The greatest accumulations off Lake Erie
  will be found across the higher terrain of the Chautauqua Ridge,
  northern Cattaraugus County, Boston Hills, and southwest Wyoming
  County. The greatest accumulations off Lake Ontario will be found
  across the Tug Hill Plateau.

* WHEN...Until 1 AM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult. The hazardous conditions will
  impact the Friday evening commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Heavy snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be
prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities.
