This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for southeast Maryland, northeast
North Carolina, central Virginia, east central Virginia, eastern
Virginia, north central Virginia, south central Virginia and
southeast Virginia.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Maximum heat index values are forecast to range from 98 to 102
degrees today. Exercise extra caution if working outdoors.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday.

Maximum heat index values are forecast to be near or exceed 105
degrees each day this week. The hottest temperatures are expended on
Monday and Tuesday where heat index values may approach or exceed 110
degrees in spots. The daytime heat combined with warm overnight lows
ranging from the mid 70s to around 80 degrees will increase impacts.
Limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and take frequent breaks in
shade or air conditioning.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of eastern West
Virginia, northern and central Virginia, and central and western
Maryland.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

A Heat Advisory is in effect across portions of the northern
Shenandoah Valley, Potomac Highlands, western Maryland, and along
U.S. 15 from northern Virginia into north-central Maryland from
noon to 8 PM today.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday

An Extreme Heat Watch is in effect for portions of the area from
late Monday morning through Monday evening.

The extended period of excessively hot and humid conditions
continues through at least Wednesday. Daily heat indices in the
afternoon and evening of 100 to 110 are expected, and up to 115
degrees is possible.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for eastern Grant, Mineral, and
Allegany Counties from noon to 8 PM today.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday

The extended period of excessively hot and humid conditions
continues through at least Wednesday. Daily heat indices in the
afternoon and evening of 100 to 105 are possible in the lower
elevations.

Heat index values of 95 to 100 degrees is expected today. This level
of heat affects individuals sensitive to heat.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday.

Extremely dangerous levels of heat is likely for much of next week.
The hottest temperatures of the season thus far are expected with
highs in the mid 90s to low 100s. The persistent heat with numerous
record highs and warm lows, light winds, sunny days, and lack of
overnight cooling will significantly increase the danger.

As the heat builds, limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and
ensure access to air-conditioning and other cooling areas.
