...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM AKDT WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by onshore flow restricting Kuskokwim River
  drainage in combination with excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Kuskokwim near Bethel.

* WHEN...Until 700 AM AKDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  River or stream flows are elevated. Ponding of water in areas is
  occurring or is imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 900 PM AKDT, River gauge reports indicate that receding water
    levels have begun to rise again near Bethel, which remains at
    minor flood stage. This is due to the Kuskokwim River back-up in
    combination with heavy rain across the advisory area. Minor
    flooding will continue from overflow of poor drainage areas,
    especially along the Kuskokwim.
  - Strong onshore winds along the Kuskokwim coast have limited the
    ability for the Kuskokwim River to drain out into the Bering Sea.
    This has caused rapid river rises along the coast and inland into
    Bethel. Water levels are expected to back up along Brown Slough
    and flood low lying areas of Bethel and areas along the
    Kuskokwim.
  - For Kuskokwim River at Bethel:
    At 8:51pm the stage was 9.1 feet.
    Flood Stage is 8.5 feet.

Impacts:
At 7.0 feet: Action and bankfull stage.
At 8.5 feet: Minor flood stage. Water starts to back up along Brown
Slough and flood low lying areas.
At 12.0 feet: Moderate flood stage.
At 14.0 feet: Major flood stage.
