...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 12PM THROUGH 8PM MDT THURSDAY
FOR THE UPPER RIO GRANDE VALLEY AND LOWER CHAMA RIVER VALLEY AND
EASTERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO GUSTY WEST WINDS, EXTREMELY LOW HUMIDITY
AND AN UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE...

.Critical fire weather conditions are forecast across the Upper
Rio Grande Valley and Lower Chama River Valley and eastern New
Mexico Thursday afternoon and evening. Stronger southwest to west
winds are expected south of a storm system moving across the
northern and central Rockies with gusts up to 40 mph during the
afternoon hours. West winds will bring in a drier airmass and
cause relative humidity values to quickly plummet into the single
digits. In addition, the atmosphere is forecast to be unstable
with excellent mixing.

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM MDT THURSDAY...

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag
Warning...which is in effect from noon to 8 PM MDT Thursday. The
Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* AREA AND TIMING...Upper Rio Grande Valley and Lower Chama River
  Valley (Zone 121), Northeast Highlands (Zone 123), Central
  Highlands (Zone 125), Northeast Plains (Zone 104), and East
  Central Plains (Zone 126) from Thursday 12 PM to 8 PM MDT.

* 20 FOOT WINDS...West to southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with
  gusts of up to 40 mph Thursday afternoon and evening.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values between 4 to 9 percent
  Thursday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
  Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the
field of this Red Flag Warning.

The National Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a Red Flag
Warning for gusty winds and low relative humidity, which is in
effect from 10 AM to 9 PM MDT Thursday. A Fire Weather Watch has
also been issued. This Fire Weather Watch for gusty winds and low
relative humidity is in effect from Friday afternoon through
Friday evening.

* Affected Area...Fire Weather Zone 225.

* Winds...Southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* Relative Humidity...As low as 12 percent.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible
Red Flag Warnings.

...CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS EXPECTED THURSDAY...

.Persistent dry west flow will continue with the very low humidity
and above normal temperatures Thursday. Winds will be on the low
end of warning criteria, but humidity and dry fuels will be well
into warning criteria. Winds will diminish some Thursday evening,
allowing the warning to end, but very low humidity will continue
all night.

* AFFECTED AREA...Southwest and South-central New Mexico,

  Texas.

* WIND...West winds 15 to 25 mph with a few gusts to 35 mph.

* HUMIDITY...4 to 8 percent.

* IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.

* RFTI...5 to 7 or critical to extreme.

* IMPACTS...Avoid the use of open flames or any activities that
  may generate sparks. Accidental ignitions will have the
  potential to grow into dangerous wind-driven wildfires.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong
