Drought Information Statement
National Weather Service Goodland KS
945 PM MDT Wed May 6 2026 /1045 PM CDT Wed May 6 2026/

Drought continues to worsen across the area. April rainfall
amounts were much below normal which resulted in Drought intensity
worsening by about one category for all areas (for example, from
Severe Drought to Extreme Drought). Rain and snow to start the
month of May are not reflected in the latest Drought Monitor as of
yet, but will likely have little to no impact to long term drought
conditions. The latest outlooks suggest that below normal
precipitation will continue through early summer with little, if
any, relief from the drought conditions.
