...New AVIATION...

.KEY MESSAGES...
Issued at 1018 PM CDT Sun May 10 2026

-Warm temperatures into the 90s by Tuesday with maybe some areas
like PDC reaching 100, with these warm temperatures potentially
 lasting for several days.

&&

.SHORT TERM...
(Tonight through Tuesday night)
Issued at 1018 PM CDT Sun May 10 2026

After the past 12-24 hours with some areas receiving over half an
inch of rainfall from areas of showers and thunderstorms, we will
return to a dry period throughout the short term forecast period.
With highs struggling to get above the 60s in most locations on
Sunday, southerly winds will return for Monday. This will result in
high temperatures warming up with values ranging from the upper
70s to mid 80s. With a H500 ridge developing in the Four Corners
region, the large extent of UL convergence extending east into
the southern High Plains, dry conditions will be established for
the region. High temperatures by Tuesday with even strong LL H850
WAA will result in high temperatures ranging from the lower 90s
to some areas in the 100-102 degree range, including Palo Duro
Canyon.

.LONG TERM...
(Wednesday through next Sunday)
Issued at 1018 PM CDT Sun May 10 2026

The main H500 ridge axis and the building heat will slowly shift
into the southern High Plains by later this week. A weak cold front
may sneak into the OK Panhandle mid week, but should not make any
notable dichotomy in temperatures for the region. Overall high
temperatures throughout the long term forecast period will remain
well above average for mid May. Some of the global model guidance
shows the main H500 ridge shifting east into the Mississippi River
valley by later this week. With another mid level disturbance
moving east into the intermountain West, this system could
generate some diurnal convection for the Panhandles. But will have
to watch trends closely as we get closer to Thursday and Friday.

.AVIATION...
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 1211 AM CDT Mon May 11 2026

VFR conditions expected throughout the majority of the 06Z TAF
period at all TAF sites. We may have to watch for some low cigs
that could impact KAMA around 12Z, but confidence is not high
enough to include in TAF at this time. Winds will be light and
variable to start the TAF period and then eventually become south
and southwesterly past 12Z with winds of 5-15 kts.
