...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM AKST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Snow. Total snow accumulations 4 to 8 inches for the
  Anchorage Hillside and higher elevations.

* WHERE...Anchorage Hillside.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM AKST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
  likely become slick and hazardous. Travel may be difficult. The
  hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday afternoon and
  Friday morning commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will fall during the afternoon commute
  and into the overnight hours, with the heaviest snow in the
  evening. Snow will taper off late tonight into early Friday
  morning. Please use caution while traveling.

* WHAT...Snow accumulation 4 to 8 inches. Locally higher amounts in
  higher elevations and in Portage Valley. Periods of reduced
  visibility.

* WHERE...East Turnagain Arm, including the Seward Highway,
  Girdwood, and Portage.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM AKST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
  likely become slick and hazardous. Travel may be difficult. The
  hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday afternoon and
  Friday morning commutes. Reduced visibility at times in heavier
  snow bands.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will continue to accumulate through the
  evening into the overnight hours before tapering off late
  overnight into Friday morning. Heavy snow at times may reduce
  visibilities to under a mile, with moments of near whiteout
  conditions possible.

* WHAT...Snow accumulation of 3 to 6 inches with locally higher
  amounts. Reduced visibility to 1/2 mile or less at times due to
  heavy snow and blowing snow.

* WHERE...Whittier.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM AKST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Visibilities reduced to one half mile or less due to
  blowing snow. Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing
  snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous
  conditions could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning
  commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong offshore winds gusting to 40 mph
  combined with heavy snow will result in poor visibility. Winds
  will weaken and turn onshore later this evening and overnight.
  Temperatures will gradually increase and may allow snow to become
  rain. Should precipitation remain all snow through the night, snow
  amounts for Whittier may exceed 6 inches. Snow (and/or rain) will
  gradually taper off on Friday.

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations 2 to 6 inches.

* WHERE...Anchorage Bowl, including the Glenn Highway corridor.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM AKST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
  likely become slick and hazardous. Travel may be difficult. The
  hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday afternoon and
  Friday morning commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Light snow will fall during the afternoon
  commute and into the overnight hours, with the heaviest snow in
  the evening. While overall snow amounts will likely remain below 6
  inches, this will be the first time this winter that Anchorage
  sees accumulating snow on major roadways. Please use caution while
  traveling.

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations for Turnagain Pass
  8 to 16 inches. Total snow accumulations from Hope south to
  Primrose 5 to 10 inches. Winds gusting as high as 25 mph.

* WHERE...Interior Kenai Peninsula and Turnagain Pass.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM AKST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow
  could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions
  could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The heaviest snowfall rates are expected from
  now through late tonight. Steadier snow will taper off to
  scattered snow showers for tomorrow.

* WHAT...Snow and blowing snow. Additional snow accumulations up to
  two inches. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph. Blowing snow reducing
  visibility to one-half mile or less at times.

* WHERE...Thompson Pass.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM AKST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Visibilities reduced to one half mile or less due to
  blowing snow. Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing
  snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous
  conditions could impact the Thursday evening commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong winds are now forecast to persist
  through early tomorrow morning. Though there will be a break in
  snowfall later this afternoon and evening, continued strong winds
  may loft transportable snow and maintain lower visibilities.
  Another round of snow is forecast after midnight early tomorrow
  morning. Confidence is high that winds and snow taper off by late
  tomorrow morning.

  Winds gusting as high as 25 mph.

* WHERE...NW Kenai Peninsula and Skilak Lake.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM AKST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow
  could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions
  could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will develop from east to west across
  the western Kenai Peninsula this afternoon and evening. The
  heaviest snow is expected late this evening through early Friday
  morning before tapering off. Northerly winds will also increase
  from tonight into early tomorrow morning, which may result in
  localized areas of blowing and drifting snow, especially along the
  immediate coast and the Sterling Highway.

TO 9 AM AKST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations up to 6 to 10
  inches. Winds gusting as high as 30 mph for SW Kenai Peninsula and
  as high as 40 mph for Southern Kachemak Bay.

* WHERE...SW Kenai Peninsula and Southern Kachemak Bay.

* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 9 AM AKST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow
  could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions
  could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will develop from east to west across
  southern Kenai Peninsula through this afternoon and evening. The
  heaviest snow is expected from tonight through Friday morning
  before tapering off. Northerly winds will also increase tonight
  into Friday which may result in localized areas of blowing and
  drifting snow, especially along the immediate coast, Sterling
  Highway, and Homer Bluff.
