SEVERE THUNDERSTORM. RISK...Limited. AREA...Far northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. ONSET...This evening. SIGNIFICANT WINDS. RISK...Limited. AREA...Portions of northeast Oklahoma. ONSET...This afternoon. FIRE WEATHER DANGER. RISK...Elevated. AREA...Most of eastern Oklahoma and all of northwest Arkansas. ONSET...This afternoon. DISCUSSION... Dry and breezy conditions will be present across the area by afternoon with minimum relative humidity values in the 15 to 25 percent range and winds gusting to 20 to 30 mph. These conditions will contribute to elevated fire weather concerns across much of eastern Oklahoma and all of northwest Arkansas. A warm front will lift north late this afternoon with an increase in instability eventually being realized across far northeast Oklahoma into northwest Arkansas. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop late this evening along and north of the boundary with large hail to one and a half inches the greatest threat. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Local Spotter Activation May Be Needed across far northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas this evening. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday. SUNDAY...Thunderstorm Potential...High Wind Potential. MONDAY...No Hazards. TUESDAY through Friday...Thunderstorm Potential. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... Isolated showers and storms are possible across west- central Arkansas into far southeast Oklahoma Sunday as a cold front moves through the region Sunday. Temperature behind the front will remain above normal with low afternoon relative humidities and a continued elevated fire weather threat. The frontal boundary will stall across Texas then move north near the Red River Tuesday providing a low chance for storms mainly across far southern Oklahoma. Later next week, a storm system develops across the Desert Southwest and moves into the Southern Plains resulting in more widespread, low to medium rain chances. weather.gov/tulsa contains additional information. $$
