.Discussion...
Scattered afternoon and evening showers and storms are forecast for
tonight through Monday, with a few of the storms possibly becoming
strong to severe across the far eastern plains. The main threat from
the stronger storms will be strong gusty outflow winds, small hail,
brief periods of moderate to heavy rain and of course cloud to
ground lightning. Only isolated storms are forecast for Tuesday and
Wednesday, mainly across the mountains, as high pressure aloft
builds in and provides for a few days of hot and dry conditions.
Tuesday through Thursday have the best chances for near critical
fire weather conditions due to expected low humidity levels, but
winds are currently forecast to remain below criteria so no
highlights are anticipated. Storm chances increase Friday as a cold
front pushes in, cooling high temperatures for both Friday and
Saturday.
Ventilation rates will be Poor this evening across the district,
then inversions will start to break between 0900 and 1000 Sunday
morning. Smoke dispersion will improve to Good to Very Good for most
locations by 1400 and remain favorable through 1900. Similar smoke
dispersion trends are anticipated for Monday.
