.Discussion...Dry conditions continue into the afternoon as
southeast winds increase, reaching 15-20 mph over the interior
and 20-25 mph along the coast with gusts 25-35 mph. Min RH
values over the interior are forecast into the upper 30s to
low 40s this afternoon. Combined with gusty winds, sensitive
fire conditions and control issues may develop this afternoon.
With a tight pressure gradient in place, southeast to south
winds remain elevated into tonight, 10-15 mph at times across
the interior and 15-20 mph at the immediate coast with higher
gusts. Very Good to Excellent dispersion is forecast.
High pressure breaks down into Sunday as a strong cold front
approaches central Florida. The front will push across the local
area Sunday night into Monday morning, bringing an increased
chance for showers and lightning storms. A couple of storms
late Sunday afternoon and evening could be strong to marginally
severe, especially from Palm Bay to Kissimmee Prairie northward.
Outside of storms, Sunday will be very warm and windy with gusts
30 to 35 mph at times. Very Good to Excellent smoke dispersion is
forecast for Sunday and again for Monday as winds veer northwest
behind the front.
Drier air returns behind Sunday`s cold front, especially across
interior locations. Min RH values Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
will fall to near critical values. Red Flag criteria are likely
to be met on Monday with low RHs and strong winds.
Fog potential and other remarks...Widespread fog is not forecast.
Localized visibility reductions due to smoke from new or existing
fires will be possible even if fog is not forecast.
