Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
137 AM CDT Wed Mar 19 2025

...RED FLAG WARNING NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH THE AFTERNOON FOR 20FT
WINDS OF 20 MPH OR MORE, RELATIVE HUMIDITY OF 10% OR LESS, AND
EXTREME FIRE DANGER FOR MOST OF SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO AND WEST
TEXAS...

.DISCUSSION...

Low RHs (near or below 15%) and ERCs at or above the 97th percentile
persist through the whole period. Nevertheless, after today winds
diminish greatly. So, while we will experience another day of
critical fire weather conditions today due to the overlapping strong
winds, high ERCs, and low RHs, starting Thursday conditions will
improve to elevated or near-critical (mainly the product of the
extremely dry conditions).

Matrix product issued by the Midland/Odessa National Weather
Service Office.
