.DISCUSSION...
A period of elevated fire weather conditions may develop across the
southwestern South Plains Sunday afternoon with wind speeds of 10-15
mph and relative humidity falling to near 10 percent. Critical fire
weather conditions are possible Monday. Temperatures will be warm with
highs in the 80s area wide. Minimum RH values as low as 7 percent are
expected. An approaching upper system will bring breezy southwesterly
winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph possible. Extreme fire
weather conditions are possible on Tuesday. Temperatures will continue
to be warm with highs in the upper 70s to 90 and minimum RH values as
low as 7 percent.Southwesterly winds will ramp up to 25 to 35 mph with
gusts up to 50 mph possible. A Fire Weather Watch has been issued from
late morning through early evening Monday and Tuesday for the South
Plains, Rolling Plains, and the far southern Texas Panhandle.
