Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Northern IL and Northwest IN
National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville IL
403 PM CDT Tue Mar 18 2025

.DISCUSSION...
An elevated risk of grass and brush fire spread will persist
through late this afternoon, due to dry fine fuels, warm
temperatures in the low to mid 70s, south winds gusting up to
around 35 mph and relative humidity levels of 30 to 35 percent.
Winds will diminish with sunset, though conditions will remain
breezy and mild overnight.

Another strong low pressure system will move across northern
Illinois late Wednesday, which will bring a period of showers to
some parts of the area Wednesday morning, and a chance of some
strong thunderstorms by afternoon. A strong cold front will then
move across the area Wednesday evening, with winds shifting
northwest and perhaps gusting as high as 40 to 45 mph behind the
front. Colder air moving in overnight will likely result in a
period of wet snow with some accumulations into early Thursday.
There is another chance of rain Friday night.
