Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Extreme Southeast Arkansas,
Northeast Louisiana, and Central Mississippi
National Weather Service Jackson MS
218 PM CDT Sun Mar 8 2026

.DISCUSSION...
Patchy fog is a concern areawide Monday morning with areas of
dense fog possible in south central to southeast fire districts
Monday morning. A cold front will stall just south of the southern
districts which is bringing an end to the light rain. This front
will be the focus of storms Monday afternoon as it lifts back to
the north as a warm front. Dry weather is expected Tuesday but
widespread wetting rain of around one inch is expected across the
area again Wednesday and Wednesday night as another stronger cold
front moves through the region. This will be a clearing front with
cooler and drier weather expected Thursday. A warming trend and
continued dry weather is expected going into the weekend.
