.DISCUSSION...
Winds are still forecast to increase this afternoon as a low pressure
system develops. Colorado fire zone 253 and Kansas zones 13, 14 and
28 am a little worried about the duration of the wind due to the
proximity to the surface low but will let the Red Flag Warning
continue. Southwesterly winds sustained at 10-20 mph and gusts up to
35 mph remain forecast through the rest of the afternoon and into
the evening. There is a less than 10% chance for a rogue dry
lightning strike later this afternoon across Colorado zone 252, and
Nebraska zones 79 and 80. Winds are forecast to remain from the west-
southwest through the night with winds sustained at 10-15 mph.
Red Flag Warnings and Fire Weather Watches continue for northwest
Kansas for Monday with winds gusting up to 40 mph and humidity
falling into the low teens. The strongest winds are forecast across
Kansas zones 42 and 29. Colorado fire zone 254 may see an hour or two
of gusts up to 25 mph but confidence is overall low in the duration.
Fire weather then does look to continue for the majority of the
upcoming work week with Tuesday and Thursday the most likely days for
critical conditions.
