.DISCUSSION...Tonight and Tuesday...
A surface high pressure system will setup over eastern Colorado on
Tuesday and winds will be much lighter than previous days. Some wind
gusts could reach 20 mph across the far northern plains but most of
the rest of our forecast area will have wind speeds below 15 mph.
Minimum relative humidity will be around 17-23% across the plains.
With the lighter winds, no critical fire weather conditions are
expected. Smoke dispersal will be good to very good across the
entire forecast area.
LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Tuesday night through Saturday...It will
be mostly dry through Friday morning, with a few late day
convective showers in the mountains Wednesday and Thursday
afternoon. Afternoon humidity levels will drop into the teens over
most of the plains Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons.
Low humidity levels will not be an issue Saturday with upper
troughing and moisture expected over the forecast area. Winds will
be light through Thursday. On Friday, there could be strong
enough winds to elevate fire weather conditions over the
southeastern forecast area. Smoke dispersal looks to be fair to
very good across much of the forecast area during the afternoon
hours of Wednesday, then good to excellent Thursday through
Saturday.
