* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 6 to 9 feet in the surf zone.

* WHERE...The beaches from Cape Hatteras to Cape Lookout.

* WHEN...Until 8 AM EDT this morning.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and
  localized beach erosion.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Dangerous surf conditions will linger for a
  few more hours this morning thanks to continued strong,
  southerly onshore winds.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to
dangerous surf conditions.
