Subject: Updated: Minor RTMA Upgrade to Version 2.10.10: Effective
August 26, 2025

Updated to change the effective date to August 26, 2025.

Effective on August 26, 2025, beginning with the 1800 Universal
Coordinated Time (UTC) cycle, the National Centers for Environmental
Prediction (NCEP) will upgrade the Real-Time Mesoscale Analysis
(RTMA). In the event that the implementation date is declared a
Critical Weather Day (CWD), an Enhanced Caution Event (ECE), or other
significant weather is occurring or is anticipated to occur,
implementation of this change will take place at 1200 UTC on the next
weekday not declared a CWD and when no significant weather is
occurring.

The changes consist of:

1. Updating the "RTMA weather status list" files intended for the FAA
to add an additional station to the output for CONUS. The new station
is KJKA (Gulf Shores International Airport at Jack Edwards Field).

The current "RTMA weather status list" files are located on
NOMADS/FTPPRD at:
https://nomads.ncep.noaa.gov/pub/data/nccf/com/rtma/prod/airport_temp
s

ftp://ftp.ncep.noaa.gov/data/nccf/com/rtma/prod/airport_temps

With the following filename format:
(rtma_sector).FAA_T_stn_analysis_values.txt
Where rtma_sector is: akrtma, gurtma, hirtma, prrtma, rtma2p5

More information about the RTMA, URMA and RTMA-RU is available at:

NCEP encourages users to ensure their decoders are flexible and are
able to adequately handle changes in content order, changes in the
scaling factor component within the product definition section (PDS)
of the Gridded Binary (GRIB) files, and any volume changes which may
be forthcoming. These elements may change with future NCEP model
implementations. NCEP will make every attempt to alert users to these
changes prior to any implementations.
