Subject: Updated: Soliciting Comments on the Experimental
National Water Center Visualization Services through June 30,
2026

Updated to extend comment period through June 30, 2026, and to
describe additional visualization services, terminology changes,
and access to the National Water Model output.

The NWS Office of Water Prediction (OWP) is extending the
comment period on an expanded suite of experimental National
Water Center (NWC) Visualization Services through June 30, 2026.

The experimental NWC Visualization Services consist of
geospatial representations of river network information. A
description of the suite of visualizations developed by the OWP,
including new and enhanced services, is provided within the NWC
Visualization Services - Service Description Document (SDD) at:

https://nsdesk.servicenowservices.com/api/g_noa/nwspc/res2/40be8
52247926250f6550c03e16d4312

and the updated Handbook of NWC Visualization Services at:

https://www.weather.gov/media/owp/operations/Public_Handbook_NWC
_Visualization_Services.pdf

The initial comment period, which ended on December 31, 2022,
provided feedback on the new, expanded, or enhanced experimental
visualizations. Updates were made based on user feedback and
requests (see changes made from Versions 1.0 to 2.3, as noted in
Part II - Technical Details of Standards in the SDD). In
general, requested enhancements and additions include additional
map background overlays, as well as additional visualizations
and service access to the National Water Model output.

Experimental services as described in the handbook will be
publicly available to core partners and the general public for
feedback. Please access these services in one of the following
methods:

1. Through the National Water Center Products and Services
  Landing Page: https://www.weather.gov/owp/operations. Under
NWC Visualization Services, the icon and link on this
  landing page provide access to:
  a. the National GIS Map Viewer (direct access method
     described further below)
  b. the Hydrologic Visualization and Inundation Services
(HydroVIS) (direct access method described further below)
2. Through the NWS National GIS Map Viewer
  a. Water Theme: https://viewer.weather.noaa.gov/water
3. Through the cloud-based Hydrologic Visualization and
Inundation Services (HydroVIS) system through the users own
  GIS application, https://maps.water.noaa.gov/portal,
  https://maps.water.noaa.gov/server,
  https://maps.water.noaa.gov/image

Feedback is being solicited to help refine the services and
define the suite of visualizations for future operational
implementation. Please provide feedback via an NWS survey at:
